They do pendulum cast mate but not the same as on field as it would demolish the bait during the cast.
A few a the lads av fished with do a gentle pendulum when needed while Fishn but around the NE coast there's not a great need for massive distance, but if you can cast long you can always drop short, if ya can't n the fish are a good distance out ya might as well pack up.
On the field they really power through, the NESA casting comp is on this Sunday at show field near redcar. Think you have to be there before 8.45am if ya gona cast.
Pop down as watch mate or you can cast yourself if you wish

No m8 no need to cast like when they cast in a tournament off a beach or the piers as i find casting from the deck is enough to get the required distance.

or maybe are you asking do they get same distance in fishing situ as casting in a field wth wind on your back ??.

It's completely different mate.
Some use similar styles with a shortened drop and less rotation. It's more to do with safety and ease of the cast.
You want to be in the water rather than blowing up reels with mis-timed casts.
Footing, sloping beach, space, conditions, bait size etc...are all factors that determine the technique of the cast. Some excel (bait casters) and can cast anywhere, similar distances to that on the field. Others (most) struggle and can't get anywhere near the same distance.
As for not making a differece...you don't know unless you can. Personally, it can be more of a hindrence in the summer up the coast and at night.

Always wondered about that mate, in a tourney is the casting setup always with the wind behind yer?

Yes,always set court down wind when possible and even move it to suit wind changes sometimes.hahaha
