Catch report "Grace"

The forecast didn't look so good for today so I wrote it off but by 9.30 the sea looked flat and the sun was out so I just couldn't resist a "hoy in".
I arrived at the can around 11ish but the wind started to freshen from the South East and the sea became very lumpy. There was plenty of fish in evidence but the conditions were rapidly deteriorating. I deployed my drogue which steadied the boat and I fished a prawn/mackerel cocktail on a flowing trace. Numerous small codlling were returned as was my first Wrasse of the season but eight cod to 5lb were kept for culinary purposes.
By mid afternoon the conditions were becoming dangerous so I headed for home at 6 knotts and wasn't half pleased when I turned into the Tyne.

Canny goin mate, hopefully the fish get bigger as the summer mobes on. Cant wait to get out myself and get some good ling, they give a gud scrap!!:D

Cheers for the report Drifter,
Sounds like you had a canny day, apart from the fresh wind.

Fingers crossed the wind eases off a bit for tomorrow.

Not a chance yet, even if the sea was flat calm all month we would be suprised to see any yet and since it has been rough for two weeks then no.

2-3 weeks yet till they show i would say going off records from past poor May weather reports.

Tich, Try Asda for uncooked whole prawn or even cooked. Tie them to the hook with elastic thread for good presentation and fish them on the bottom on a 3ft trace. Arthur:)
