Well 2.4 million worth of rocks will be dumped in and around the Alcan soon to aid in the sea defences. I just hope it improves the fishing and not make it unfishable or just a low tide mark.

was fishing there on sat next to the big rock, got talking to one of the contractors who was saying that two ships are comming in on thursday to dump so many ton of rock for the sea defence. he did not tell me how far allong the beach it was to go. looking at it now i think they have spoilt a very good fishing mark but i dont know what it will look like when finished

cheers
mark

Its from the same area as they got all the rock from for the Scarbo sea front...you know...the one that started breaking up after the first storm and is months behind the finish dead line lol

fished just to left of big blocks on sunday morn when sea was running fished it last year great load of rubbish now spoilt just like hendon prom and newbiggen prom. have they totaly stopped the coal tipping now i wonder how or if it affects the fishing i know it has spoilt the durham colliery beaches in my opion, in front of tip at lynburn left of large blocks might be ok in a flat sea

Lynemouth has been a dumping ground for a long long time....well as far back as I can remember, when the railway used to run through there carrying the shale & slate from Ellington colliery to Lynemouth for them to \"stack up\"....they \"stacked it up\" so much it \"accidentally\" gets washed into the sea.

I have photo\'s somewhere of the coastline from when I was a lad and my dad used to take me fishing from the late 70\'s-early 80\'s .......then there\'s the photo\'s now, the change is dramatic........other places the coastline is eroding....only in and around Lynemouth is the coast growing........go figure!!!! :(

Its a shame there not on digi cam would have been very interested in seeing them. well you seem to know the area well and the risks with the stone tipping, its a fantastic mark...so am told lol i have not done that well there for codling but caught just about every other species you can catch from the beach there in good numbers.

I was born and bred there m8, :D and still fish there quite often.
Night time with a big Northerly/NE\'erly running is the best time to fish....as I said in an earlier post about 20-30yds along the beach from the right hand side of the Rag oufall, of if you\'re fishing from the left of the pipe, about 15-20 yds to the left of the block and cast towards the power station hot water oufall, bagged a few good fish out of that area.....normally stuffed full of prawns!

But nowadays yeah......be careful of the tipping!!

I have fished the area many times over the last 5-6 years and not had any codling over 3lb. Also get loads of rockling, colie and flounder mind lol.

Cheers for the info.
