chavs and mackerel [not what it seems]

year in and year out i have been reading the posts on our forum about summer fishing for mackerel and the chavs[whatever they are] that come out of the woodwork and seem to infest our piers and marks when the temprature goes up and the sun comes out.For me it is simply not true, i have been a sea angler for more than 40years so i have seen it all,the idiots, the drunks, the gob ****es ect, ect, ect. For me 99 per cent of the time i fish in the summer i have had no problems with our young uns, ok they might be a bit loud at times [weren,t we] flying lead [we also had to learn to cast and made the odd mistake]drinking beer [can any of use say we have never had a beer or two when fishing]taking home more fish than we should[most of us have done that to] when i hear the reports about all the chavs running amok on our piers it simply is,t true either that or i am fishing different marks to everone else on this forum,i really think it,s all a bit overblown and remember these young kids with thier burberry hats [and i have never seen anyone in a burberry hat fishing] are the future of our sport, end of rant.

I have to disagree, I would like to believe most anglers wouldn't do the sort of things I've seen the 'Chavs' doing. I've seen them, throwing fish at eachother, and others, leaving bags of fish they have caught and killed on the pier. Leaving rubbish all over, using the pier as a toilet, now we all need a waz at times when were fishing buy if you on the pier do it in the water and if you need a turd walk of to a toilet don't do it behind the lighthouse.

Yes it boils my blood when they talk about the chavs mackerel fishing on piers...the chavs I know hang around street corners and wouldn't think about going fishing. They are the young generation of anglers and after all they spend a fortune in the tackle shops... I think most of us started off fishing for mackerel in the summer months on jettys and piers so let's give the kids a break

as i said phill these people are a very small minority don,t tar all our youth with the same brush

U have a good point there mate but can see it from both sides, y not make a compromise nd give the young ones a bit of education when were out doing what we love, like u say they are the up and coming anglers so if given a bit of guidance at an early age that may help

Am 21 years old any bean makral fishing once and that was last year full out this year tho one a love a drink in hot wetha and a love fishing so aye take 8 cans with me if hot and year not nice them keeping fish dead on side ect they just need sum lerning cervs show them the way to do it safe at end ov day you do get sum ****s out ther who dnt lisson but got to lurn sum haw

Got to agree with paulthespark, however, i've only fished off Blyth pier the last couple of years for the macky, all i'm saying is you can't tarnish all the youth with the same brush, there's good and bad in all of us whatever age you may be, i would say in all honesty the majority of young'uns i have met during fishing are quite polite and friendly, only the minority spoil it and its usually alcohol that comes into play :(

so the pier is a beautiful smelling place during macky season with no rubbish
"not sure which pier I fished last wed gone
yes every one has the right to fish ,but treat the place and fellow anglers with respect

everyone seems to be balming the young uns, yep a good majority of them are, but over the years I have seen older mackerel bashers behaving a lot worse. These numpties must be doing a lot of damage as Blyth pier was nearly closed last year beacuse of the mess and a rather unsavoury incident the year before. Unfortunately when you try and expalin to the majority of these people the rights and wrongs of what they are doing, you just get a mouthful of abuse, and I know some who have been threatened.

ya nah what it iz alan ya get sick of these threads every year about mackerel .dot dot dot :D but most that moan about it will go down when they in great numbers and bag up cos they sh!t at catching proper fish in the winter dot dot dot ... wer nah alan ya love :D them tigers

seen the piers just like that in the middle january no so called chavs in sight

Personally, I feel sorry for some of these youngins. Take Blyth for example, practically no local industry left but a large community and therefore less chance of getting a job etc. All the lads do is look for things to keep them going and one thing for certain larking about on the pier there, which after all is a very nice place, passes the time away. Yer talking to them and watching their double blink when replying is sad but that's the way the majority voted. like

don't agree with any of this i've seen the idiots catch maki and tie plastic bottles to them and through them back its disgusting.urinating all over using bad language when people and tourist are walking up and down our piers.total disgrace and give us proper anglers a bad name should close thepiers during summer months and only fish comps. and for writing this you must be a chav yourself.

Chavs and mackerel

Chavs and mackerel

A good report Paul m8 but i dont blame the kids trying to catch macky and supposedly getting other peoples way as i will say they are up and coming anglers and we should be proud of them doing what we did years ago.I have been fishing now for 50 years or so and have had no complaints about young un/s as i have had more trouble from teenagers that drink when they are fishing and seen accidents happen through this but they never learn so i say leave the kids alone and try to help them if they ever need our help as that is how they learn as we learned the hard way so good luck to them.:D:D:D:D

old v middle v young

old v middle v young

this topic is in all fairness, and just hear me out on this,a load of pants, when i was a teenager 30 years aggo the piers were a slaughterhouse in the summer, loads of hairy arsed idiots hoying sets of feathers and slaughtering countless fish and most of them were middle aged and very teritorial about where they were flinging there feathers from, south shields used to stink then and it was very anti social for holiday makers to be on the pier with loads of crap kicking about and feathers wanging around there heads,i stopped fishing it,there are good young lads out there, there are good middle aged lads out there, good old uns should be valued, but take what you need and then go home:mad:maybe talk to a young un and get him fishing with the old un with the middle one in between, its simple really get people to have the crack, and maybe the young un will not be on that street corner or if he has fished with the old geezer or the middle aged man,he would not rob your house, simple really, think on:yltype:

Unfortunately if you want to fish the piers in the Summer you'll have to put up with a higher concentration of numpties generally ruining it for everyone else, its the same with most things!! I had a very quick crack at Blyth Pier last year when I was back in the summer, it reminded me of the Star Wars Cantina Bar so I only gave it 20 minutes!

If you can, find yourself a nice quiet little rock mark and leave the piers to the Summer professionals!!!

blyth pier is a disgrace in the summer months for litter and stinking. i take at least a carrier bag of rubbish away every time i fish it in the summer months. i do have to agree that its not just so called chavs and younguns because some of the people that creep out of the woodwork in the summer months could do with educating aswell. People that you would think should know better. Ive met plenty of very polite younguns in the summer months and ill even give the odd spinner here and there when they lose theyres if they are well behaved. On the other hand ive met plenty of idiots who aint got a hope in hell of gettin owt. Its all a matter of respect in my opinion ie be polite and dont leave rubbish. Everybody has to learn yes but personally i wont help anyone who is acting a fool and being a pig ........ simples ha ha

exactly mate i sit on a rock in the summer now when i can in south east scotland in the summer,im exiled down south now,but will never fish south shields pier again anfter the scenes of thirty years ago:mad:

some of these ''charvs'' are aright is you give them the time of day before judgeing them by the hat they have on! dont get me wrong theres ones that take the p**s, and fit the ''charv'' name,

its not all charvs that disrespect the piers, ive seen loads of non 'charv' anglers, all the top price gear ect that have dropped litter allover, p**sed allover, swearing, tins, kicking fish off piers ect..

its the same everywhere you go, some people are decent and respectfull, others arnt!

get on with your fishing sesh1, if ya dont like em dont fish with them, its life there will allway be people you dont like to be around

i give everyone 1 chance if i dont like them or the way they are going on i tell them :)
