Bit flush at the moment so have booked a 60hr charter trip out of Whitby with John Brennan on the Chieftain.
Have wanted to have a go at this for a long time and everything has now fallen into place.

Anyone been on one of the Chieftain charters if so any top tips for what to take and what to expect (have read all his excellent info on website) from anyone who has been there. I am all excited like. :P :P

Just checked out the website and I\'m sooo tempted cos there\'s 4 places left but the May budget voices are telling me \"no way\"

It looks awsome, hope u have a safe trip with loads of fish

Thanks lads hopefully will get that elusive double. Yes Bert the distractor is staying at home - it works that well even the freezer is empty of fish. :casstet:

jason , i did a 24 hour trip a few years ago aboard chieftain , excellent day , great skipper and his wife cooked some good grub , very nice boat to fish from . hope you have a good day

Jason\'s distractor is tremendous, he was fishing next to me on my first ever trip on The Boys, I caught a couple of half decent ling if I remember rightly, and as I didn\'t have a clue what I was doing, I can only conclude the magic potion deflected the fish towards my hook :D

Seems like years ago now! :D

Weather not looking too good at the moment as wind forcast from the east at 17mph on saturday and sunday. Will be gutted if blown off.

Never been out on the Cheiftain but was fishing out of Whitby last Tuesday with two guys who went on a 36hr trip with them last year. They both said it was the best trip they ever had and have booked for a 60hr trip in June.

Good luck and I hear that the first Mackrel showed up there yesterday at ten miles out and there are huge shoals of herring showing. All the fish we caught were coughing up herring. Rippers worked best when the water was clear but there are huge areas that have a heavy algea bloom and this put the fishing right off.

Thanks dave looks like the weather forecast is looking slightly better but i dont know what limits john puts on before canceling a trip.
