I have a Shakespeare mg1000 beach rod here that I'd like to give away.

Its a cheap and cheerful rod but is complete with no damage, would be ideal as starter rod to use in river or pier.

I don't want anything for it, just that it goes to someone deserving.

All the best.

very nice gesture gary mate, one good turn deserves another, so ill match it mate, ive got a "nearly" brand new multiplier free to good home, so whoever takes the rod wants a reel... its a greys G-MAG SEVEN still in the box, been used about 3 times, cost 70 quid from id fishing so its there if anyone wants it.

Wouldnt mind the rod like am useing a jarvis walker and a slosh thirty am happy with the reel but the rods realy poor in any type of wind or ruff sea trying to see a bite past the natural movement of the rods impossible at times

Wow, very nice mate.

John was first to contact me about it, so I'd say it was his.

However how about putting the rod and reel together and whoever wants the two can make a donation to RNLI ?

Does that sound OK?

£40 ?? sorry typo , I meant £4 :red:

Very nice gestures lads, enough to get someone started without breaking the bank. Whilst on the subject, I would like to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year with loads of tight lines !!!

A thought it was a give away to some one who couldnt afford a a setup at the minute just a thought

You know what it is, I wish I'd never bothered and just binned the rod!! it seems more hassle than its worth trying to do people a favour.

I was going to give it away, yes, I said its an ideal starter rod and want it to go to someone deserving.

And Mick has kindly gave a reel to go with it, so its not really much to ask to put a few quid as a donation is it?

So far we have had £15 put up, so whats that, a few pints?
