Church Bank Tonight

Fished Church Bank tonight with two of my mates and the kids, fished from 4pm til 10pm and had a canny session, no one blanked so cant be bad! First cast and i picked up a canny bite and wound in a huge flattie only for my line to snap just as i was lifting it over the railing then i dropped my knife in the Tyne that ive had since 97' when i first started fishing :/ i thort to myself here we go, im gonna have no luck tonight.
However things started looking up after that and i picked up another 3 flatties including a canny sized flounder (def a personal best for me) and i also had 2 decent eels and a huge one that had a large fin on top and bottom? It was about 2ft long! Everyone else got at least one flattie so we all went home happy!

Eel sounds like a ling, extremely rare in those parts. Cant w8 to see the pic.

Cheers lads, should have got a better pic before it went back, forgot to mention all fish were returned alive and i was using fresh crab. Anyone like to guestimate the weight of tbe flounder on top of my seatbox? It's definately the biggest Flattie ive had up til now! Time to invest in some scales i think

Nice session mate how many cm was the flounder,? my younguns had a 40cm at 2lb and a 42cm 2 and a half lber flounders before.

I'll have to get the tape out and measure my seat box cos as u can see its about a cm longer than the ridges of the box!

Measured my box today and would say that the fish would measure about 42cm. Had a look at the SAMF length to points table and that gives 88 points. I believe that equates to 880grm.

880 g = 1.94006 lb
OR 1 lb and 15.04 oz

Pictures don't show it properly but that looks a bit thin (might be wrong) so give and take. Either way the flounder is round about 2lb, well done

The tables were formulated I think from quite a bit of research and give quite an acurate idea of how length relates to certain types of fish. there will always be fatter and skinnier fish but this gives a decent average.

Anyone not sure have a look at the Daiwa Pairs website, last years specimen was a mullet weighed at 7lb 12oz and chart converted to 7lb 14oz or the other way round. Either way not far off.
