was fishing the tyne last year with a mate was using the normal cod baits lug blacks mussel and crab and was doing ok them my mate started using two rods one with a nice cod bait the other with a two hook flapper using liver on one hook makkie the other and this is no joke he has had cod on liver i know whiteys and flatttys but cod?who needs quid each crab but a slab of liver anyone else use mad baits for cod?

i wasnt happy as i had no cod lol but seee the funny side just been arguing with my mate that fish are stupid thats all lol and he fishes the pier alot and in my eyes a hungry cod wont swim past any bait to get to a crab bait

When I was a kid. Me and mate had a bet that codling would take anything seeing my mate was chewing I bet him nowt would take his chewing gum. So he casts out with it on and within 10 mins he had a codling on it. Couldn't believe my eyes.

When i was a kid i used to dig brandling worms out the composte heap at my fathers allotment, had some good bags of big coalies from blyth harbour using them

aunt bessies yorkshire puddings are good , soak in gravey overnight then freeze individually wrapped in cling film, just whip them on like a frozen crab bait, there lethal for coldling

Caught a cod off the boat using a banana .
I penal rigged it and dropped over a wreck.
The only thing is once you get a bite its then goosed.
But then again it was 20+ years ago and fishing was easier.

If you think that is strange a group of us go the the Isle of Whithorn every year for 4 days and stay at Burrowhead. We had a new starter in our company and he came with us to fish. Never fished before.He turned up with Halibut boilies as he though we were fishing for catfish. We took the mickey out of him rotten but didn't go and catch doggies on the boilies !!

had cod and plaice in the boat on cheddar cheese and had cod on mussel dipped in marmite. once won a years supply of marmite, one jar !!!!!
