Collecting mussel

I live near Ashington and was wondering where I could collect some mussel for my own use rather than forking out about £1.80 for a small bag at the local tackle shops? I've heard of a local mark but not sure exactly how to access them or where to park the car. Any info would be much appreciated. Please send me a PM if you wish. Thanks

It's getting hammered & not that many mussel left just small ones that are a bit of a pig to lash on by time u pay for diesel & your time in collecting you could easily do a deal with a tackle shop & get a deal on a few bags

Can't u get them from your local fish monger,I get a bag full of lrg fresh mussel for only a few quid:)ideal for bagging up to freeze in batches,as n when u need e'm.

Stakeford to blyth isn't to far you by the time you fill a bucket you'll get your money back and what you don't use straight away you can freeze, I normally collect a bucket full after crabbing late in the season and freeze them for the winter

Hi read your thread on blyth is the place hard to find is it deep mud

Used to get decent mussel across the river on the North Blyth/Cambois side as well, just behind where the power station used to be.

I work next to the river in Blyth on the Riverside business Park, on a decent low tide always loads of people out in the mussel bed there, you can park next to the river no bother

Just pm me if you need more info
