congers

me & my m8 used 2 get sml strappy's in blyth harbour where the trawlers offload. even a sml strappy will take a macky flapper. i was speaking 2 a diver who dives the river 2 free ropes from the props ect from the trawlers when they r all snagged up & he was telling me it is unbelieveable the size of the congers & cod that r swimming around the trawlers in the river feeding on the fish, prawns & crab that gets chucked overboard.

wonder if shields fish quay would be worth a shot down the side, must be lots of food down there and plenty of cover

I fish the mull quite a lot in the summer and fish for conger we always use 70lb shock leader straight through with aeither a 200 or 250 lb trace. Same trace as we use for the tope, either a half mackerel or mackerel flapper does the job to a size 8/0 hook and I use a 50lb class boat road. The stiffer the better in my eyes still we even loose one in three to snags so you can never go too heavy for them. Hope this helps

i dont see y not m8, we would just drop a macky flapper down the sides of the jetty pylons or swing a bait under the jetty's.
any old pipes coming out of walls ect r a prime layre 4 a conger.

Had small one out the traps down at bates years ago about 3 or 4lb.

You'll be supprised what used to get sucked up through the inlet pipe when the power staition was working
