Crab in the eye

Fished shields this afternoon and got just coalies but as I was tying a crab on it sort of burst sending a squirt of it's juice right into my mince pie. Wiped as much of it as I could of out, but just wanted to know if anyone on here has had the same thing and do I need to seek pofessional help (for the eye I mean). Is there a doctor in the hoose who could advise.

i done the same but with a ragworm instead, was carefully threading it on the hook then it burst in me eye wasnt very nice but im not blind yet

same here i,ve been stung in the eye loads od times by ragworm blood. And thats acidic. You will be ok.

Cheers for the reassurance mate but I've just looked in the mirror and I didn't get the normal shock but another one, there's red spidly lines round the white of the eyeball. I think I'm ok though because it's in both and I'm putting it down to the TINNIES.

the eye will just water & wash out any muck m8 u will b fine,
i was whipping a crab on a hook 1 night while crunching on a boiled sweet & bit a hole in my cheek, with the shock & without thinking i put my finger in my mouth 2 ease the pain just as u would if u bit ya lip but fingers were still coverd in crab juices.
mind i soon spat it back out but the next day i had 2 go 2 docs 4 meds as my cheek was up like a pudding.
then again i've still used crab ect with fingers cut open & just never thought about it, just goes 2 show ya though.

seek medical advise asap.....tell ur doctor u caught the crab ....just dont tell the wife......anyway seriously i think u wil be ok but if its irritated and symtoms persist do pop and see a medical practitioner

I did this over Christmas! Just rubbed my eye after baiting up with crab and by the time I got home my right eye was blood shot and blurry and the left normal! I showered and rinsed my eye out and by the next morning all was good! Crab juice is lethal!!

Clam is also a killer, if the fluid sack bursts while whippind it on and goes in your eye it hurts like hell.

Eyeball still intact, stung like hell but ok now. I'll just be a bit more careful in future. Thanks for advise docs

You could just learn how to bait up properly.

Must admit mate that you've got to be the expert at wrapping bait on. That 18' rod of yours and the power stroke requires it.

I know what you mean. I am thinking of going for something bigger. I will have to use cable ties to keep the crab on then.
