Tip dont put them in deep water if your just hand balling them in, i was bloody shattered when i tried some in deep water about 2 miles of St Marrys lol :) lot of work for 2 Lobbys and loads of crabs and a silver eel

trick is with deep water, if you are fishing more than 1 on a string, is to make sure the length of rope between pots is greater than the depth, so the first pot is on the boat whilst the second one is still on the seabed... otherwise your hauling a lot of weight up at once!

there's a curious little loop hole in fishery law for boats under 10 metres....

if you've got no engine (sails or oars) you can legally sell your catch, fish or shellfish without a licence or commercial registration

what kind of licence do you need to flog your catch?...just thinking...caught a boat load of fish this year ;)

from a boat?? If the boat has any sort of engine at all, you need a proper fisheries licence

if the boat is unpowered, fill your boots

pretty sure that the unpowered bit works from the shore as well, you can wade out and set pots from the shore and sell your catch, same goes with line caught fish as well

only thing you can't flog is salmon/sea trout, different set of rules apple

I'll go and find the links before it all kicks off!

Scotland's not England though is it, innit? In Scotland you don't have get into debt for half a life to go to college or give your Gran's flat to The State to pay for the care she's been paying for with NI contributions all her hard working life, or pay through the nose for medicine you've already helped develop with your taxes and charity donations and NI contributions.

Rules might be different down here :exclam:

sub 10 metre rules are the same in h'ingerland as well

only found out about it following a convo' with me new trawler chums
