Me and my mate fished Tynemouth pier last night from LW up to HW.
Flat as a knacker, foggy as hell at first with an annoying fog horn!! lol

First time we ever fished the pier, dont know why we have never been before!!

Paddy was into fish all night from the off, 3 size coalies, 4 size codling all up to around 2lb, he lost a cracker that had his TTR bend right over. Then he hooked into somthing small! lol, he thought it was small, got it to the side and I hand balled it up as he couldnt real it up, what pops up to the top, a fat pollack around the 6lb mark, would love to see what he lost as the bend was twice what the pollack gave him!

I was gutted, using the same bait, chucking the same place and had nowt.
Then 2nd last chuck, the reel sccreamed off and I landed a 5lb4 codling, then a size coalie.

Cracking night, all the fish went back safe and sound bar the 5lb codling ;D

Cracking place and we will defo be back!

Met some canny dudes on there as well.

I will upload some snaps of the pollack and codling later on.

aye, it was a good one, keeps you going when you start to loose interest! lol

got the excited shakes when my mate lost the big un, then the mini shakes when i got the codling up, thats what its all about.

just a shame he had graft today or we would have stayed longer lol

its well worth the climb and the shank along the pier.
we will defo be back ;D

everything went back bar the codling i got, so they can get fatter for the next time ;D

Great session lads well done, might try tynemouth pier meself in the coming weeks its some where I havnt tried yet, whats it like for getting onto ?

aye, top side.
defo need heavy ish line, rotten bottoms, i noticed when blasting it out, there are 2 ledges that you either hit or bump when coming in. my mate struggled to get the good fish up and it hung itself, we left it for ages, it was on and it kept trying to move out, but we ended up pulling it and it bent both the hooks! lol

to get on, we climbed around the top side but on the river side, i would recommend wearing some strong shoes, there are some spike type things inbetween the railings, stand on these and shimy around the railing, just take your time, its safe enough, then pass your rod or stand through the railings. i got round no probs with box on my back and a bait bucket. dont try getting around the sea side and stay clear of the place if there is a big sea on, i have seen the waves coming over the top of the place, went last night as it was flat ;D
canny few lads on the end, we never tried the end

Sounds like you had fun mate - I haven't been on that place for about 30 years lol, never really went on enough to suss it out, but I know some very good bags & fish have been taken on it. Some good pollock getting caught a couple of years back on spun jellyworms & things if I remember right.

Wasn't sure what the attitude was to fishing on there of late, since they put up all them new cameras; heard stories of people getting escorted off & gear confiscated & stuff.....seems like plenty of peeps are still going on though.

Gary :)

cracking night gary, right place, right time, wrong conditions so we thought lol, sods law.
they were after the stinky yellows, rag and crab.

well, my attitude is, im not going on to steal anything and i aint causing any bother or danger. so if anyone wants to escort me off, they can do, but it will have to be a police man and i would want to know why, i doubt anyone would argue with me if i put the deep voice and nasty head on. all rubbish was taken away so no harm was done and i went on at my own risk.

i have heard of the harbour bloke or coast guard coming over and telling people to shift when the sea has been big, common sense really.

i know blyth north pier people are being kicked off and they are clamping down, im sure i heard someone had stole some cable off it and they are starting to try and get people done. its dangerous on there to be honest, i will never be back on that place lol, last time i ws on was 8yrs ago and it was bad enough then!

i understand that tynemouth is a club venue and clubs pay to go on there etc, im not doing any harm if there are no matches on, and if there were i would move else were and let the lads fish.
S/Shields pier is locked on a night if i remember right??

after the last few encounters with big fish, i never leave my rod on a stand etc with the reel engaged, so easy to shoot off seen it done and had to chase it along the rocks before, and that was just off a 4lber! so if im not holding the rod, its on the ratchet. Unless there is a strong tidal pull, then i will hold it.

sorry for the delay on the snaps lol
the pollack, returned :D

the 10lb beast from the second trip since sunday lol, paddy is a jammy sod! A lad on the pier weighed it on his hands scales at 9.5lb is but said they were not acurate, the fish was gutted and had roe in it, when it was weighed at home it was 9lb14 :D, i was on the verge of having some battle scars on my hands and fingers from hand balling the fish up! defo need to invest in a drop net lol
