Had a spin up the coast yesterday on the hunt bass. Sea was lovely and got to my Mark to fish the flooding tide. Had some lovely bait from ollies and set up with two hook flappers. Managed to land 6 bass in 3.5hrs all in ragworm. Biggest going 41cm and 1lb 11oz. Never caught a bass in the north east before so over the moon!

Hope all the bass went back It is closed season for killing any bass untill 1st July when a sinlge sized bass can be taken per fisherman per session. That applies untill 31 Dec when catch and release applies again. No cheating lads

Put back nearly all my fish mate and yeah I know the bass rule.... All the bass involved in the making of this post were returned unharmed :D

Won't be Bass fishing until I can keep one. Rule is a disgrace to angling not to say how much it has probably cost local angling shops in lost sales. The pressure put on shore anglers to return fish is ridiculous when boats are raking them in. Keep putting them back boys, its more for the boats to hoover up.

Why is it a necessity to keep one? I got my PB Bass of 7lb 10oz on a plug last year and the biggest kick I got was reviving it to watch it swim away. Every Bass I catch gets returned.

I am not a ' recreational sea angler ' as the EU rules have it. I am a ' Subsistence Hunter ' catch it, kill it, eat it....! end of. If us North East fisher folk were a Amazon tribe Sting & Bono would be having a concert to raise awareness of our plight. If you want to run around sticking sharp hooks into things just for the fun of it then that's up to you. I catch what I need to eat, when I have enough I stop fishing and don't carry on injuring fish just for my savage amusement as you obviously do. Don't judge me and I won't judge you. Every Bass you catch gets injured by a hook, every Bass you catch gets worked to the point of exhaustion on the retrieve, every Bass you catch runs the risk of disease from the stress and injury it receives after you return it.

On the other hand, I take about 8 Bass a year then stop fishing while you are maiming, gut hooking, injuring and stressing fish.

Fact is I only fish to keep. You fish for the pleasure of hurting fish.............IDIOT..
