Hi, I've only been to craster once and i fished just off
Duntsborough castle rocks
There was alot of mackerel however this time I'm taking bait
Does anyone know the best marks off the rocks for bait fishing ? Preferably as little snag as possible

To be fair anywhere from dunstanboroufh to cullernose is snaggy but if u fish at cullernose its pretty clean ground! Or you could fish north of dunstanburgh onto embleton beach for flats! Theres been a few turbot from there in the past!

Not really interested in flatties , preferring to fish for cod

Directions from duntsborough castle would be a great help
As I don't know the area too well

just follow your NOSE, threw castle gates its possibly were you fished 1st time back of castle, was some good bags of pollack @wrasse taken from there w/e gone upto 20lb bags on bait mostly ragworm. tight lines.:thumbup:

as reg said just go through the castle and fish the rocks in front, you can float spin or bottom fish with crab or rag, tynemouth lads had cod big coalys, pollock and macky on sat nightwith bags to 20lb,park at craster and walk to castle about 20 or 30 minute walk. davy.

You can park near the golf club and walk to the castle in about 15mins I think ?

I was wondering how far we're you expecting to float one as it won't be very heavy for the cast

I normally hav the float set bowt 25 to 30 ft and its even deeper than that! Walk from the golf course and up the bank its not as far but the bog hills a killer! Just after the wall at top of cliffs and maybe 10-15ft out! Mackerel belly or crab n rag will get u fish! Theres big coalies wrasse n pollack!

You can fish for codling anywhere from the pier to the castle its heavy kelp, fish 2 1/2 hours to low first 2 hours of the flood with crab baits, the same for south side of the harbour

I use the stop knot to adjust depth to find the fish moving it back and forth. The initial length is the same bowt 10 to 15 inch trace and sliding weight below the float!
