Cree Headlights

Am sure me m8 bought the same one from a uk seller off eBay. Think he only paid a couple of quid extra aswell and didn't have to wait ages for it to arrive

I've seen a lot of posts recently regarding those lamps, mostly to do with the general crappiness of those batteries. Seems a lot of people have been reporting a very short run time and having to buy better, non-chinese versions of those batteries, or saying you're better off getting one of the lamps that'll run on 4 AA size batteries so that you can fit some good re-chargeables or whatever is to your liking.

I must say, after last winter I'd decided I didn't really want to lumber the old Tiga around any more and was looking for an equally powerful lamp with a good selection of settings and a good beam. I looked at a few of those Crees some mates had got (as well as Magicshines & a host of others) and must admit none really ticked all the boxes for me. I ended up getting a Fenix HP11 which as far as I'm concerned has been absolutely spot on so far and is still running happily on the original set of undistinguished, ordinary AA batteries that came with the lamp. I hope soon though to get good re-chargeables for it.

Looking at buying one of the rechargeable cree's from china as a back up...

just checking... is this the right one or is there others which are better?

CREE XM-L T6 LED 1600Lm LED Rechargeable Headlamp Head Light + 2X 18650 Battery | eBay

item number 160889451422

i have that lamp its spot on if u dont use it much lol great for rock marks and a tip light is a must alround i cant copmlain for 20 quid but if ya buy 2 will see u 12 hours and even petzels dont last that long and are not as bright

just bought 1 a few weeks ago from amazon (2 days delivery). as people say batteries are poor and needs charging every session but lasts the when fully charged. and thats watching the tip with the half beam on.

cant complain about them as there are light, cheap and work. beats changing batteries evey 3 sessions in my old lamp.

mates have tigas, and there are some good deals to be had on used ones but i am not strong enough for one of those yet.

How much did you pay for that one Gary?

Could have got one from China for just over £40 delivered, but a bit wary of copies etc & not wanting to wait a couple of weeks or more I ordered one from Fenix UK with next day delivery and a set of AA batteries for about £50. My only "gripe" is that the headband comes in a few pieces & it took me several attempts to put all the bits together correctly - having to refer to pictures etc. on the packet & website. Once together however it's easily adjusted & well comfortable. No more wire down my neck and bulge in my waders above my backside lol!

On the lowest setting, which is the one I use most, they state a runtime of 206 hours and the next lowest (which to be honest I find plenty for all my rock hopping) is 25 hours. The two highest settings will light up the world around you!! I like the beam, which has a concentrated spot, combined with a nice spread of peripheral light like the Tiga. You also get a clip-on, flip up diffuser (which I haven't tried yet - I like the standard beam). The other thing I like is the fact that the light is turned on by one switch while the other adjusts the power settings, so that it comes on at the power you've set it to and there's no cycling through various settings to turn it on & off.

Everyone I know who's got either the 10 or 11 model seems to swear by them and you get a 2 year warranty as well. Here's a link to where I got mine:

On the subject of headlamps, was out last night and had to put on my sunglasses as the glare from those who are blind was too much to bear! Turn them off please if you have done baiting up. Is there any need to flick from side to side blinding everyone as you show off your beam. I'm sure others will agree but it really get on my.......ts :D got a £3.99 lamp from Lidl, does me fine.. for the beach, still got the same batteries since new, 3 months old now and out twice a week.

Quite agree! I've been blinded by eedjits about half a mile away with their 15 jillion-lumen-headlamps constantly on and waving in my direction - if they'd been a bit closer they'd have needed the services of a proctologist to retrieve them!!:D
