Went up for the afternoon stress buster and stayed till 9pm. Tried the dam wall then Bay of Plenty. No fish except a small roach at the end of the day caught on a lure. One lad had three at the dam using a small black fly and a buzzer on the point.
It was hard work for most anglers.

Mick. ps Buzzers tried but no luck.

lad i know has been getting a few on blobs with bibios on droppers at the meddows mick. worth a try for you next time;)

Never used blobs (no jokes please). I have some in my fly box but am unsure how they work. Do they float on the surface and then you strip them in ?.
Used Bibios but to no effect on the day.
Mick.

blobs can be fished slow or at breakneck speed, this time of year when the water is warm, it is best fished slowly on an intermediate or sinker, or under an indicator. The biggest problem with blobs is when you start catching on them, it is hard to go back to other flies as they are deadly, especially the sunburst blob. Just vary your retrive until you find what speed they like it at.
Another tip is when you put one one, give it time to take in water, after that it will sink like a stone.

Hope this helps,
Rory :)
