diablo from shields

If u had been on the boat at the time u would have understood ware I'm coming from at the end of the day I was asking if anybody had been out on it and had the same experiance as i did this place is meant to be a place to voice ur opinions I very rarely come on here... Now i know why its a forum ware ur only understood if ur in a click and come on here day in day ouit

The Diablo used to run as a charter then went into divers or something else, not seen it out fishing the wrecks yet this year thou have seen it tied up in the river. Not sure what went on on your day out but the fishing this year has been a challange from the previous two years that we have been spoilt.

Dont like the mackerel on hook to catch gull thing but the fishing can not be helpped as long as you felt he tried on the day thats about all a skipper can do.

P.S i was out today (choppy sea) only had 6 keepers in 4hrs (not including the endless mackerel/coalie and whiting) between 2 of us

U done well compared to us mate we were out all day 10 rods 2 fish all day about 2lb mark its just the fact he wad happy enough to take our money but wasn't happy to atleadt try and look for fish glad u had a nice little session

aya id av been ****ed off aswell mate 7 miles a good shank he sud of went 7 mile then and you can feel wrecks a dont care what anyone says:(

Cheers mate we just got promised things while we were handing money over once the money was handed the promises were droped and ur right when u hit a wreck u can feel it all i could feel was the dragging of sand

ok rutland m8, maybe av been a bit hasty,
you`ve had a bad trip, we all have, av never in my life paid a charter before we left the dock, so you may question that m8.
the reason for this is if it`s a bad trip, a decent skipper usually won`t charge full bat.
so am with you there.

but everything else you have mentioned seems out of the skippers hands m8.
10 rods on the boat, seems the norm,
but the mackeral and gull was out of order.
happy fishing m8.

Aye mate it was just a rubbish trip we were all on top of each other ad the back of the boat was taking up by a diving lift so we couldn't fish of there it had a good size cabbin wich left to little stretches down each side and and oversized bench in the middle we all probaly had about a foot and a half each of space, the boat has been used as a charter boat a diving boat and now a survey boat and the skipper we had it isn't his boat apparenty he uses it every now and then to take trips out obviously not a experienced skipper I wouldn't have went on if I knew this before had just talks a good trip and disopointed the full trip

Based in north shields mate apparently it was based in hartlepool, a lad who was on tried it at hartlepool and he said its was useless there too now its been moved to north shields obviously for a reason

Maybes the fish just werent playing ball ??
I went out on the jfk with scotty91 and there was only 1 fish on board a ling of 3lb caught by myself and went back
It was january mind but it still cost us £35 each

Just dont go back on that boat and stop twisting

rutland is trying to find out if other people have had similar experiences with this boat/skipper.... in the future people may take note of posts like this and realise to save their £40 for a trip up to st marys island and back due to unprofessional skippers.

The wrecks where showing on the fish finder, but the drift of the tide and tow of the wind could have ment the baits where 100yards away from it, the skippers job is to accomodate for this and drift apporpriatly over it. The whole of the boat was fast maybes 3 times between 10 rods... i have only been on a handfull of boat trips, but i have lost 3 sets in 3 drops befor. esspecially when trying to fish bait nailed hard on the bottom... you expect to loose a fair bit of gear on the wreck.

Their was one wreck... at the apparent 7 mile mark. But we where probs 3-5mile off straight infront of the piers where the fish finder showed a flat bottom. We had a few long drifts over this "wreck" and the leads where just dragging through silt and sand, no bumping no knocking and no fish.

If anyone has had a good session on this boat... please let us know. It may have just been a crap day... but something smells!

this is the reason we go to hartlepool, tj gannett,

only £25, and never had a bad trip, even on a rough/choppy day, barney gets you on the fish.
am not saying there`s bad skipper`s up here,
am just saying, barney`s a good skipper.....!

Thats very reasonable price and half the battle is trusting the skipper.

At the end of the day it is a lesson learnt... from our mistakes...
Just wondering this post started to see if people made the same mistake as us, and to try stop people making in in the future.

Agree with mag. Some people on here obviously don't read posts properly I was asking if anyone had fished it and if so had the same experience. Like I said before I don't get on here much Ive fished for years and there's far to many people on here that's been fishing for a couple of minutes and think they know everything because theve fished a pier with everybit of gear they have in the cupboard then exagerate about 5lb fish theve last wich really people saw a fish of not even 1lb being lost as it came up against the tide so before people start being arsy read the post first. Not a thread to every one who has comented so don't take it the wrong way cheers

hi mate, I dont think it's your post that caused the initial reaction just the timing of it as there's been a lot of slagging off of charter skippers and in particular one skipper by a now barred (but not for viewing I'm sure) ex member.
I think those that initially replied had this in mind and thought "here we go again". But obviously it's not the case, but give them a bit slack for the error, it is understandable given the circumstances.
Don't let it deter you from making your views known I'm sure all are interested and all can gain from each others experiences (just if it gets to be the same view for the 50th time it gets a bit off putting :) )
I know the boat you mention, it's been sailing from Royal Quays for several years now, can't give an informed report as I've never been aboard but my view would be that it's very well suited for diving and has been decked out that way, I can undestand how the diving platform could make fishing a bit more uncomfortable than usual ...... but , when all said and done it's surprising how much better things look when the fish come aboard :) :) alas this season is a hard one so all the more difficult to go out and have corker day when all you come back with is a few mackerel (I know, I've been there :) )

all the best mate, keep up the posting..... we look forward to more reports

cheers

i have to agree, i fished from the boat in question a couple of month back and will never go back on it. the skipper hasn't got a clue a member of our party was having to try and talk and direct him over wrecks, he spends more time out his cabin fishing than in it trying to find the fish. He just stops and drifts any where claiming it to be a wreck. we were told a price then when we turned up it was a 5a more plus then another 3 quid on top of that because he claimed there wasn't enough people to cover fuel costs so we ended up paying 8 quid extra from the price we were originally told, he made us pay this before we even set off n said if we didn't pay it he wouldn't take us out now if i hadn't of been looking forward to it all day n taking time of work for the trip and not to mention travelling to north shields i think myself and a few others would of told him to **** off but we give him the benefit of doubt and paid up with no fuss. The trip was supposed to end at a certain time but some how i as back home and sitting in front of the tele before that time and thats with packing stuff away and driving back through the tyne tunnel. there was no reason to come in early the sea wasn't big, wasn't rough and the weather was ok.

He seemed like quite a young lad only a few year older then me so i dont no if he is just starting up and learning but if thats the case he shouldn't charge top money and should let customers know this.

i wouldn't of put this up but it seems rutland is getting a bit stick so think its only fare having had the same experience

Yeah I know what u mean mate .I've been on boats a number of times and never had a fault with any skipper some times we've blanked sometimes we've done great but that's fishing my grandad was a skipper out of the TYNE for years and he said that's skippers take money of u at the end of the trip not before ur on boat . The guy obviously isn't an experienced skipper and if he is just starting out he should have warned us before taking us out instead of false promises but we all learn from mistakes I wil be stucking with recomendations next time never fished much from the tyne I either go of hartlepool or whitby so any recomendations from shields will be appreiated
