does anyone clean and tune abu reels ?

been viewing this site for a while now looking for tips/advice and eventually took the plunge to sign up , so hello everyone. ive got a abu 7000 and a abu 6500 which are in need of a good clean and tune up does anyone on here do it or could anyone recommend a tackle shop . im in cramlington so somewhere north of the tyne would help but i can travel . also ive been on flea-bay and seen some processed peeler crab baits off someone called peelercrabman any feed back on these do they work cheers
 
only heard of them last week mate a young lad was using them on the shields pier he was catching dabs on it so it might be good bait but i would look into them a bit more before you spend your money:thumbup: :) welcome to nesa mate by the way:)
 
Hello and welcome, You can get your reel serviced at most tackle shops, think it's around £20 but could be mistaken. Been looking at the peelercrabman baits as well, it would be nice to see if they work, Someone must have tried them, Having said that there's not many fish about to test them on!

Don't go wasting your money on the crap sold by "peelercrabman" a.k.a. the lincolnshire peeler co.

Do a search on any fishing site and see what others think, as well as me.

Why would anyone take a perfectly good peeler, then mash it up and mix it with god knows what. I seriously doubt if their rubbish has been anywhere near a peeler crab.

Keep well away from the stuff it is literally a pile of crap. They make it sound like the bees knees, but i've tried it several times without any success. Cos it's sticky it gets bloody everywhere except on your hook, it 's difficult to keep on the hook, and I question whether it can withstand being cast.
 
Both reels are quite easy to service I have most schematic drawings for ABU reels if you can give me the models of the reels you have I should have the drawings and will email them to you if you want
 
Thought it would be rubbish, I've tried processed and artificial stuff in the past and had no success. Went to the fishing shop in blyth the other day and bought some of that lazy lug coz there was no fresh or frozen blacks, when I took the lid off it and it just reeked of chemicals, needless to say I caught nothing on it, just a waste of a fiver! Also, how many crabs would it take to fill one of these bottles of peeler crab oil if it is actually what it says?
 
I have had first hand experience of the peelercrabman's so called bait and also lazy lug, I have a pack of the peelercrab stuff in my freezer and a tub of the "bone idle" lug in the garage you are welcome to it if you want it.

Trouble is you live at Cramlington and I live at Consett so it's going to cost you a gallon of juice just to collect it so I have a better idea, get your gallon of petrol or diesel and soak some old rags in it, tie the rags to your hooks and give it a go, when you catch nothing you'll know what it feels like to fish with peelercrabmansh*te and bone idle stuff.

Only diffence is your hands won't smell as bad when you use the petrol/diesel.:hallucine:

I fished Blyth pier just over a week ago when the sea was picking up, the only bait I had was crabmancrap and bone idle lug, I saw about 5 codling caught within 20 yards of me on the pier, but I never had a bite. The icening on the cake was when a bloke walked past me, asked if I'd caught out, to which I replied NO, he set up about 5 yards from me and pulled a nice juicy cod in within 5 mins.

So marks out of 10 would be 0

I'd rather drop my pants round the back of the middle toilets at Blyth beach than fish with that again.

i take it no-one recommends peelercrabmans crap baits then . Next question (not expecting much response) anyone got any REAL peelers for sale ?
