Me and my mate had a couple of hours after work last night around low tide. Parked at the plantation, straight across and over the dunes, good water clarity and we could clearly see the sandbars so got settled in a suitable spot.

2 hook flappers, size 4s and 2s, rag and bluey brought plenty of bites and we caught 4 species of little flatties between us, Turbot, Plaice, Flounder and a lone Dab. Nothing size with the biggest fish a Dab of maybe half a pound but a pleasant evening out on the beach.

Attached pix of mini turbot and plaice if I pressed the right buttons

It was strange, Turbot were the target and the first two fish of the session were those, like peas in a pod. Then a Plaice, then maybe 10 or 12 flounders including a double shot, then to finish off a Dab. A procession of species through the 2 hours we were there.

Forgot to say most productive line was a little 9ft spinning rod just tossed 20 yards out. Just past where you could see the bottom.

Any tips appreciated :D I have read a few reports of fish caught really close in.

Literally 15 yards mate, could have waded out to where they were. Caught 10 fish, 3 species in maybe 2 feet of water. 2 hook flapper 2" piece of rag and 2" strip of bluey dangling off the end. No size but a nice bit of fishing nonetheless.
