This Comp was fished,or should I say attended..Between 1400hrs and 1800hrs on Sunday at the Hebburn Marina, Grassy Banks..
Weather was good enough to fish in shorts,but this must have put the fish off...
There was plenty of undersize tommys about, taking the crab baits but action was slow...
Only one size fish caught by all competitors,this being a 32cm Whiting,half an hour before the end by Ian Ainsley..
No lads,a lot of skill was attached to this catch..Cast out,leave out,reel in,fish on...well someone had to win..
A measure and release policy is in force this year,with only size fish counting,so its gona be hard...
As Codonly rightly mentions,You can only catch whats in front of you...
RESULT....1st..Ian Ainsley....Whiting 32cm 8points..
N.B. I dont want to get into the Crab Tyres debate..But whilst fishing the grassybanks just right of the single boat,got speaking to two lads(25plus) who were fishing to my right..upon examining their bait(canny crab) and asking what they paid,this was reply given..."We paid f**k all mate,we just RAIDED,them tyres over there" pointing to a set of nearby tyres..Definition of RAIDED..Plunder,pillage,steal..There must have been around 50 crab in the bucket...If a man sets a Rabbit snare,and catches a Rabbit,can anyone come and take the Rabbit..Im on the Fence...!!!
