Half time. Sven out. This bloke hasn\'t a clue. Rooney frustrated because he\'s playing out on the left, Gerrard and Lampard are clueless in the middle, and all because he wants to accomodate Beckham in a holding role.

Get rid of 4-5-1. Play 4-4-1-1 with Rooney behind Owen. Beckham on the right, telling him he has to prove himself there, not in the middle. If he drifts inside, he gets replaced by SWP. Same with Gerrard and Lampard. They\'re proffesionals, so they know that if one bombs on, the other sits.

Sven borin Eriksson hasn\'t got the balls to upset players, but he\'s playing possibly the best young player in the world out of postion and getting the lad that frustrated, he gets booked.

Get the swede out!

These guys are paid in the region of £60-£100,000 a week to play football.I\'m expected to be flexible in my job and to do something I don\'t do all the time adequatetely.I class myself as a fully trained professional,as these guys are supposed to be.they are still on a football field, still playing in the midfield,or the defence or up front.
True we have no-one for the left hand side, but Northern Ireland fielded players from league 2 for f$%^&s sake.As I\'ve already said these are world class players being paid massive wages to hammer teams like this, playing 4-4-2, 5-3-2, 4-1-4-1, or any other formation the manager tells them. They should not go out and play as if they are the only team on the park,of which they gave a good impression.

Did not see the match, rugby fan, footballers to me are over paid and agree with Tat. One other thing, i did see a bit of whats his face Hanson saying that these are world class players and we should win these matches. If we are not winning these matches they must not be world class palyers, drop the lot and see if that wakes them up a bit.

they sell shirts and it pays the executives and managers wages, they wont drop the big names same as NUFC MUFC Chelsea Madrid etc etc,££££££££££££££££££££££££££,its business, why do you think they have useless friendlies £££££££££££££££££££££,to be honest I\'ve never been a big fan of international games they are normally boring, unlike Rugby ;)

Most times they are the only team on the park. the other teams have won the game and f******d off home.

Just heard Sven gets £4.8m a year and has 3 years left to run on his contract, dont think he\'ll get paid off somehow

I understand what people are saying on here about the players, but its not down to them. Formations are the managers job, he picks a formation to get the best out of the players he has. I don\'t agree with the \'they should be able to play anywhere\' argument, would you play a fly half as a prop in rugby? Would you have Steve Harmison opening the batting for England? No. You play players in their best positions, positions they play in week in, week out.

Eriksson gets £5m a year to do this, motivate them and organise them. He obviously isn\'t up to the job. He\'s getting his own players frustrated (Rooney) by playing out of position. He has no national pride to drive him on, he\'s motivated by money, and money alone.

Alan Hanson said last night that the problem in previous England world cup campaigns is that we\'ve had only 1 or 2 world class players. We now have 4 or 5, but a manager who\'s incapable of motivating and organising them.

rooney?? best young player in the world??

best laugh I\'ve heard in ages

rooney is what gazza was and will become what gazza is

Rooney has given Sven Goran Eriksson a big selection dilemma following his World Cup performances this week. The teenager has told the England coach he is happier playing as the deep-lying playmaker in the three-striker system used in the wins against Wales and Azerbaijan. But while the Swede wants to get the most out of Manchester United\'s boy wonder, he admitted that a return to a four-man midfield with Rooney operating alongside Michael Owen up front might be the best option in the long-term.

Rugby is different to football,I\'did\'nt say play a centre half as a goalie or a striker as a centre half.I said a midfielder should be able to play in midfield and a centre half on the left or right. Granted they would\'nt be as good as their preferred position, but they should be adequate to beat a team like Northern Ireland,or Wales.
And not be a petulant little toe rag cos a player from Cambridge United DARED to tackle the great Wayne Rooney AND have the AUDACITY to win said tackle.

I said possibly mark. And Gazza was possibly the best young player in the world at his time....as said by none other than Franz Beckenbauer - a good reference I think.

A lot better judges of footballers than me have said Rooney is possibly the best young footballer in the world.

No need for the ridicule of my opinion either.

Rooneys with the best club manager he could possibly have at the moment to curb his temperment. Theres no way he\'ll lose all the aggression, but thats part and parcel of his game. I\'m not defending his antics the other night. All I\'m saying is he probably wouldn\'t have acted the way he did if he had been playing in his correct position.

Sven out.

Anyone remember the goal Gazza scored in Euro 96 (I think against Holland) when he chipped it over the defender then volleyed it into the back of the net ? CLASS

aye Jim it was against Scotland. Forgive my crap footy knowledge. That goal is stuck in my head forever. Can Mr Rooney ever top that one? Hope he does for England and not for Man U
