Filling a multiplier...?

Do you use backing, or just the main line?
If so what do you use?
Just a thought I had whilst thinking about chucking a new line on me 7000.

I do not use backing,just fill the reel with line.

It all depends on what type of line u use and how much you pay for it. For example, if you use an expensive line, you may want to add some backing to save the cost of filling the spool and getting more from the spool you got.

In my case i very rarely do this as i like my reels full with the same line. mind you its all up to personal preferance.

ok thanks lads for the info. Just wondered if there was a reason to put backing on... I think I'll just fill me reel with the same line too.

Personally I always have the spool fully loaded with the line I'm chucking with. Two reasons for this and the first is I cast further with a fully loaded spool and the second, if I get snagged up and lose some line i can still continue without having to reline.
Obviously the second point would be addressed if I had a back up reel.

it depends what your using,if your using braid it best to put some normal line on before adding the braid

i always use backing on my boat reels that have braid on,but for shore reels i would not have a clue the noo

Personally if its for boat reels using mono fill straight up,if your using braid use a backing then wrap some tape around then put braid on,the tape stops the braid from biting into mono,shore fishing do the same with braid,mono it depends what breaking strain your using,i use a backing on anything from 15lb downwards
