first attempt at making pirks

No need for the expensive paint, just get a fluro orange aerosol from halfords or somewhere similar, base coat them white first for better results, you can get the white from poundland. If your after luminous you can also get that in aerosols, seen it in JTF North Shields or powder coat them luminos for proffessional finish. Looks like your having fun anyway, keep up the good work and theyll be looking as good as Keiths shortly

They look spot on Russ. I've tried powder coating using the stuff you drop the pirk into while the lead is still hot. It takes a bit of trial and error to get right as the lead needs to be very hot for the powder to stick, but if heated then it burns. What coating did you use?

The silver wrap looks neat too.

I don't use many pirks and just spray paint them with tins from Halfords. I lose them just as quickly as any with a fine art finish.

bought the lumi powder coat from daveys tackle on ebay, hang pirks in oven for 10 mins or so then dip them in a tray of powder coat, shake off excess then back in the oven for 10 mins, same as painting I always cover them with white first, it is a bit of a fart on but I only do about a dozen at a time and only when the mrs is at work haha.

ps sorry tonynufc, for jumping on your post

Jump in if you want mate, all these comments are giving me great advice and powder coating is something I'll be trying in the future

Cheers Russ. I could just about get away with keeping worms in the kitchen fridge until the boss bought me a second hand bait fridge. But, there's no way I'd brave cooking the leads in the oven. I'll try the silver tape method instead.

Well I managed to get myself some fluorescent orange coovar from work, works out at about £12 for 500ml, looks canny, these are the pics before I varnished them

Plain lead is easiest and does the trick without all the decorations ! but Keith keeps on loading up my pirk box with things to try ! so can't complain
