They don't but then again a weaver or granny doesnt live on the end of a line.... i.e captive.. which is what the box suggests.

I don't see how handling a fish with care and a towel is mistreatment in anyway shape or form?? ask anybody here, sig's and phill are responsible anglers and take the utmost care of ANY fish caught known or unknown

Treat them with respect, you just said you were disgusted that someone threw back a weaver. How would you dispose of such a fish?, quick kill through the top of the head or on a pier floor?

cheers mate, but i also think your getting the wrong end of the stick as well , he said he was discusted to see the fish mistreated and then kicked back into the water, not safley returned.

Disgusting to see one of them punt it back into the water in full view of people.

LOL, sorry mate seen punt and thought you had a typo and ment put, as in you were disgusted that it was returned. My mistake mate.

Thats why I was het up alittle, seen it and thought you agreed with the killing of the weaver.

Again my bad mate

I think you need to re-read my post. Then chat about it with someone to double check your comprehension is at 100%.

My comments were general and broad-based and I did not direct them explicitly or implicitly against your particular example. I also stated that the anglers on the pier were of the opinion they caught a weever (parenthesis added in original post to show their error) when in fact it was a scorpion. Had they spent a little time educating themselves they would have recognised this. They behaviour following the catch was embarrassing and their treatment of the animal was contemptible.

i think you need to re-read all the posts mate then chat about it with someone to double check your comprehension is at 100%.

you said in your earlier post

Anyone who fishes and who hasn't taken the time to read about and thus recognise most common and visitor species to our waters is a fool in my view

are you saying then that myself and simon are fools for not "taken time to read about and thus recognise most common and visitor species to our waters"

if so i would say you comments are not "general and broad-based" and indeed are directed "explicitly or implicitly against your particular example"

if you are not saying then that myself and simon are fools for not "taken time to read about and thus recognise most common and visitor species to our waters" what make use the exception to the rule ???

I reckon this thread is starting to get a bit too..

I doubt you intended to make any personal insinuations doj,
but your description of what you class as a fool, would inadvertantly have included myself (Phil knew it was a Grannyfish)... :(

I can live with that though ;), been called a lot worse before :D

I said I was disgusted that someone threw back a weaver? Can you point out where I said this?

You're obviously a well educated man, below are some words that always spring to mind when I read your posts. I've tried to keep them as long as possible so you can fully comprehend them.

Conceited
Arrogant
Vainglorious
Egotistical
Opinionated
Narcissistic

Just remember intelligence is only useful if applied correctly.

What I'm saying is anyone with half a brain would want to research and learn about the ecological setting that they fish in. Whether that's through peer based learning or picking up a book - whatever. Drifting through any pastime (whether gardening, birdwatching or fishing) is neither here nor there. If those anglers I saw had learnt elementary fish recognition they would not have had all that silly bother nor left people shocked with their cruelty (kicking a scorpion fish back into the sea). They, like you my friend, would have been well served picking up a book.

The hallmarks of any successful and competitive man.

PS You have a point. My recent post about Penn 525 30 pound line capacity was both Arrogant and Egotistical - though It's a little unfair of you to say it was Vainglorious or opinionated. Maybe a tad Narcissistic.

Gentlemen I have been in education, good and bad, for 34 years now and I am deeply saddened to think that I hadn't the forethought to realise that the way to motivate 15 and 16 year old disaffected students who had no interest in the English language would be (and I stress the words would be and probably disaffected before anyone gets arsey) to introduce a Grandie into the lesson plan and ask them how to get it off the hook. Words before redundent in NESAs wordbank have proliferated this thread. 16th Century playwrights would have signed you up for Gods sake.

Can we get back to the fishing? Nobody impressed with my grandy?
