First piking trip of the year

1st trip of the year ended up with 2 fish missed another one, not a bad start of the year

They were caught on the tees, both were on pop up dead bait, about a rod length out next to a sunken tree.

Hmmm deciding wether or not to take up either pike or fly fishing tgis summer... I already have fly gear tho


Pike is generally a winter fish mate, this is when they feed, get big in preparation for spawning.
After spawning and during warm temperatures they become fragile and if they are on the feed they can engulf the bait straight into there stomaches causing problems. Warm, shallow and low oxygenated waters can kill them too if played hard.

Great fish mb, hopefully I'll have a few reports on myself this year, av taken up pikn (first year) with the help of a mate who's showing me the ropes, gona join a few clubs n get into it, especially on the lures
 
Looks a good challenge never caugh a Pike before.
Have no idea where to go. Tactics seem same as sea fishing by putting out bait on a ledger such as bluey.
