Dear chaps I have worked in the butchery trade on & off for25 years on and off.. thers a lot of old guys ,who know me, and also that I fish,a little, well a lot. they all come out with the same sort of \'\'advice\'\' When I used to fish all I used was A....!!!! bit of cooked bacon rind, caught loads; some pigs/lambs/calfs liver...caught loads,, the spinal cord from a lamb, sheep, pig heffer, bull , a castrated bull.. you here them all,, and I\'v tried half of them and caught bu77er all... My Old man used to catch mackeral on a hook with an old milk bottle top wrapped around it!! and a small stone for a weight >>> Yes they most likley did.. I have two thoughts on the matter,,, 40 years ago the North Sea was not as \'fished out as it is now\'\' there was no fish finding gadgets the average trawler just used local information & experience.. fishing the sea/ shore as we do now..... My other thought is if the fish are there , and they are peckish they\'l eat owt , be it a £3.50 spinner or a wee hook with a milk bottle top wrapped around it will catch mackerel It does seem some baits/ lures ect are better than others. but then all of a sudden they seem to die off, why? I think we have all done it, gone to the local takeaway and found something we like alot and have it every Saturday night for 5/6 weeks and then get sick of it.. then we change to something else. Are fish the same??I doubt it but is there some sort of \'\' well I\'v never tried that type of food before I\'ll give it a go, then word gets around the fishy gastronomic circles that this new RoydD snack is a little on the dodgy side. dont bother with it.cos it tends to get you into a frying pan\'\' then the lads come up with a new type of bait &it lasts for a few months or so then word gets \'round and they leave it alone,,, then again am I just as stupid as the fish?? all comments will be greatfully ignored,, just like my bait Cheers :casstet: :casstet: :casstet:
