I managed to get out today after a long spell, didn't get out at all in July.
Brought along a friends son for his first boat trip and only his second ever go at fishing. Previously he'd had a go in a lake. I've been fishing in fits and starts since 1972 and never landed a doubler so today it was beginner's luck, at least I'm hoping it was beginner's luck. We fished around the back of the island with the odd fish then headed off to the top of Druridge bay. A couple of the Amble charter boats were coming and going. Then out he pulls this Pollack, he's a puny lad, texting doesn't add much muscle to the biceps. So when he started huffing and puffing I assumed he'd caught a decent Mackerel. This came up, I borrowed some scales in the marina and it came up with 11lbs but it seemed heavier, it was a real meaty fish. We caught a fair few small codling which went back, seven codling to keep and a handful of decent size Mackerel........an excellent day all in all

They have some power ,just look at the fin pattern ,nice one it's great to see Pollock like that getting caught .

Unless of course you work at Sainsburys who've renamed them "COLIN" ,as they obviously think it's more attractive
