Going camping up at Eyemouth this weekend me and my mate are going to try a bit fishing just wondering what would be the best tactics for this time of year either spinning or bait fishing and also what can I expect to catch. Any help would be great.
Thanks. :)

Was up there at the caravan park last week float fishing didn't get anything also tried spinning, there may be some early pollock or wrasse but is a bit early for them might be best heading up to st abbs a few miles up the coast, there are a few good marks around the caravan park but be carefull if the rocks are wet they become very slippy

you can fish in front of the caravan park on the north side of the harbour at eyemouth. you need to park at the caravan park and head around the rocks at the bottom of the cliff. im sure this is known as the cannons, due to the cannons on the top of the cliff. you can blast a bait out into the channel from the harbour from the side of the cliffs.
best to move around to the north and fish around on the flat rocks below the caravan park, the water from here is quite deep. but the bottom is or can be snaggy.

you can fish the south side of the harbour, park your car at the harbour and walk along to the rocks, mega jagged rocks, i tend to walk south a wee bit from the harbour enterance until i spot an outlet pipe covered in concrete, then fish to the north of that, there are a few gulleys in front of you.

there are also some good rock marks in front of the golf course on the south side as well.

i have a few favourtie marks there that always seem to fish well ;D

just a case of looking for a good looking spot, the ground can be quite snaggy there and the rocks can be very jagged, not a good place to go if there has been rain or if its raining, some of the marks on the south side mean you have to go down grassy banks.

gear wise, i would take a rough ground rod, rotten bottoms.
spinning rod and a rod for float fishing.

bait wise.
crab, mussel, rag, makerel, squid, sandeel. they all work well.

try head hooking a rag under a float for pollack, spinning or using a jellu worm.

you can get wrasse to a nice side on a float with a smallish hard backed crab hooked through the tail section. just plumb the depth and try to place the float and bait as hard to a rock ledge as possible.

worked well for me in the past ;D

st abbs and coldingham bay are worth a shot as well.
they are a wee bit further north.

st abbs is nice and rocky with some good gullies and kelp beds :D

Thanks for your help just hope we catch something as my mate has never been fishing before and i dont want him to blank as he might not stay interested.:(

Regardless of whether your mate catches anything just walk him along the cliff tops at either Eyemouth or Coldingham or St Abbs. If he doesn't appreciate what a wonderful area it is i,for one, wouldn't take him again.

the few marks around the caravan park are if you follow the path up the side of the park you will come to the wooden steps for the divers. follow the path to the left and you will see some falt rocks which are safe to fish little bit dodgie in a swell. or follow the path to the right at the steps first mark is down a dirt path but is very steep futher down again fishing on a flat rock. or follow the path to the right again down a couple of steps cut into the stone climb over the rocks to the far left its the longets route but safest keep left until you reach a flat ledge which is 20ft above the water or climb over again until you reach a gulley which is into deep water. there was a path down in front of the cannons looked at it a couple of weeks ago seems to have gone half way down. best of luck where ever you try.

I know he likes the area he goes diving here but I just think if he catches a fish he is more likley to enjoy it. Im happy just been out and not stuck in the house.

Is there any good bass marks around this area as I would love to cach one on a lure.

The only Bass mark i know about is further north at Dunbar Power Station

Although I haven't been up for 12 months I'd be surprised if the path has gone. The view from the left hand corner shows the right way down. Further to the right gives the impression you mention Mark. Just watch out it's not wet and slippery.

Can't think of anywhere nicer Tiddler

Wish I hadn't seen those photos as we couldn't get in any of the campsites in that area, alot of them have stopped letting people pitch their tents. The marks in the photos look great, will have to go there another time. Thanks for the photos.
We have decided to head down to Robbin Hoods bay now so if anyone could share any bass marks down there with me before I go sat morning I would be very greatful.
