Hey fellow anglers,
Going fishing at the mentioned place, ive only got one day and it will be in 15 days time.I have till the 14th to get my things together.
What im asking is abit of advice from you all on what lures would be best and what baits would be good?
Like I said im only there for one day and would like to make the most of it,I know there is plaice about and some red cod.
Thanks all and I look forward to what ever you have to offer me.

You can catch mackerel on daylights or any spinner mate, float fishing good for coalies and Pollock with a head hooked ragworm or fish strip. For bait fishing rag tipped with squid is good for the flatfish. Crab if you have it always good for a chance of a codling.

Do you know the marks on the pier ? http://seaanglingreports.co.uk/index.php/topic,474.0.html

Some info in the attached links. Hope this helps and good luck.

Ah yes, the guide to Shields that was blatantly plagiarised (nicked) from elsewhere and is passed off as his own work. Nowt wrong with linking to other lads work (I link to an authorised copy of that guide often myself) but not giving credit to the original authors (JV and Jimmy "Medlar") is pretty pathetic and disgraceful behaviour IMHO...

That said if the OP follows the advice he won't go far wrong, fish from low up at the 44 or off the small wall, fish the ebb off the end and over HT at the first gate / rail end. A canny cast helps but you can also get decent fish just a few yards out at the first gate area. Never had much luck with squid myself but bluey has caught me a lot of fish of Shields earlier this year.

Hi Stewart - the other site was down so I couldn't link to the original by JV and his mate. No offence intended, just trying to help the lad you know.

Wasn't aimed at you Magpies, sorry if I gave that impression and you've got nowt to apologise for.

The lad was told when he put it up that he was out of order and needed to credit the actual authors, funnily enough since being called out on it he hasn't posted much. For a while a few years back I used to write for a (very crap) living so it's a bit personal to me when I see peoples work lifted for a website and claimed as the site owners own

Codplaice, follow the advice on the link the lads have given and you will do grand.... plenty mackerel about if you use lures around the end this time of year...

Stewart / Mag, totally agree with the comments.... harsh trying to pass work off as your own, Honest misunderstanding in the posts... no problems here lol :D

No bother lads - you are right. I am a semi pro musician and writer and there is nowt worse than getting plagiarized - even worse when you don't get a proper credit.

thanks for all the replies guys, the link provided by magpies i have read and saved it on my phone so when im up there i can recap on places to go.
the one thing i was really asking for was advice on what lures/baits to use.

Fished off the end the other night, casting towards the end of tynemouth pier, About 2 hours before high tide. I was getting good sized mackerel just about every cast. I was using an 11ft 1-3oz ron thompson bass rod, 5000 reel and a blue 40g Stavenger lure ( I got 5 for £7.50 on amazon), like someone else already said though, the mackerel will probably jump on any shiny thing!
