Fishing Methods

Whats your favorite ? I\'ll kick the ball off . Pirk on bottom ( all colours but orange best ) and hokeyes above . Leadheads and lures ( only if waters fast ) and flowing trace with half a macky or a pennel squid .

As above Dave, I also like a two hook muppet trace, each hook baited with half a fillet of fresh macky

Tried a flowing trace baited with runny, squid & mussell last time out, worked quite well.

Alright Lads,

From Late April to July - 2 x Royd Shrimp lures with no bait.

From July to September - 10oz Lead Head loaded with twin tail or large grub lure tied to main line via 40lb weak link. Orange / Red best.No Bait

October to March - 4-6ft Flowing trace. Pennel set up with Zip Slider. Use as much bait as I can get on the hooks.

I do use other things of course but these are just a general rule.

drop it over the side and hope for the best, but i allways feel more confident with fresh macky over a big wreck...i like wreck fishing you just never know when that big bugger is going to munch your bait

simalar to above (good idea for thread Dave)
but different tactics at different times of year for different fish.
easter to june - St Marys for relaxing (but busy) 50ft fishing with royd lures or walkers tipped with rag for good pan sized 3lb cod
then may to sept over wrecks with pirks and hokkais or pirks with (Orabge) muppets baited with squid or rag for big cod and with big chunks of mackie for ling.
july to october need to cover lures with bait to stop the mackerel
winter nov through to easter mainly inshore hard ground with hokkai or walkers but as much bait as the will hold.

No mate.......fishing done at anchor and not drifting so that certainly helps. Also when casting I take the hook and hang it over one wire on the grip lead which helps. I think the use of Amnesia as a snood is also a postive.

The method that catches the most fish on the day, you know the one you find out about at the end of the day. Or use a completely different method to Bob Lydon, you will be bound to catch fish.

Gary,

I\'ll eat or drink anything on the go except Ginger Beer and Prunes !!

Our lasses grocery shopping bill for the xmas week (and theres only the two of us and she\'s 7.5 Stone) was £280. My new target weight is 19 Stone before 4-01-04.

Git up there...!!!!

Jeff.

I\'m fairly keen on the \"snag every drop and lose the lot\" technique

I usually favour losing a few hokkais first, with pirk if used, have tried losing lots of royd lures this year, which nearly did as well as the hokkais, but found I did tend to bring some fish back on these from time to time, which is no fun. Daylights are always useful, but as I make them myself I have to loose loads before I am really out of pocket. Mostly do the above unbaited

do sometimes try losing leadheads and jelly things, but not had enough experience to comment fully. Usually come back tied in a knot

do like to use a huge string of beads (Ann Summers) and shiny things for flatties when the ground allows, with 3 head hooked rag. Not too keen on this as I end up catching fish that way

pink hokkais often have the edge over the yellow ones I find, orange pirks. Daylights with a few strands of lurex in work tons better than plain daylights.

if all else fails copy everyone else

Single Pirk on light gear or a 10oz lead and 8/0 hook flowing trace baited with fresh mac !!! always does the bizz every other option is open and untried as yet(never caught much on any thing else ) due to impatience !!!
