fishing off the rocks with fixed spool

Didn't snap though, crunched the gears coz there pants. I know these won't crunch coz I use them regular with no problems, that's good enough for me. Far to much arrogance, elitism and snobbery in this fishing game like. People need to get themselves off their pedestals.

And the reels you have are top reels shimano and diawa arguably the two biggest fixed spool manufactures in the world, just you got them cheap still top end gear in there day.

I use a Shimano Aerlex GT8000 for rough ground. It bullied a 28lb conger out of the kelp up the Mull and has no problem pulling cod through the kelp at Craster.
There's a one on Ebay at moment for £49:95 free p+p.

Thanks for that, that's exactly the point I'm trying to make mate.

I bought a Ultegra XSC 14000 after watching Dan the Pollack off the whitby site, pull a 205lb skate in up Isle of Sky with one, just changing to fixed spool and braid this season after watching his catch, also bought the Penn Surfblaster 8000, and the affinity 8000, been out once with the surfblaster and it felt completely unbalanced even up and down rod, so it will take time to get used to them, still got most of my 525 mags, but will await the summer season for using Fixed spools .

When fishing on rocks watch your lead doesn't pull out and braid lies on rocks as braid sticks to shell encrusted rocks like **** to a blanket, nearly had a dip a few times whilst trying to carefully pull expensive braid off rocks
