Fishing St Mary's lighthouse

I hear this is a decent red cod mark in the summer but it's not somewhere I've fished before. Not gonna put the gear away fully this year as i intend to target kelpies in the summer. Always done my cod fishing in the winter but fancy a change this summer and realistically I think this is one of the closest marks to me that has any real reputation (40 min drive).

Obviously won't limit myself to just here, but if any of you could provide me advice on this particular mark and tactics either on here or by pm I'd be grateful :) 1 thing that I'm aware of is fresh crab being a must!!

Cheers.

You'll get the odd fish, but far better off traveling further north imo, anywhere between Howick and Seahouses, or you could go even thurther north to the likes of Eyemouth/St abbs

when i fished st marys i was sick it wiped my traces and sinkers out:( very snaggy me head was done in,rotten bottoms a must ;)atb plum

Seen/had good fish around st marys in the summer, fishing into crisps or off the front. Granted sport further north is more consistent, though saying that the last few summers haven't been upto much up there imo ;)

a better shot for summer cod is a few hundred yards from st marys at hartly island on a big tide some decent cod and wrasse to fresh crab a single 4ft trace with a 4/0 hook and a rotten bottom should see you come away with a fish or two. davy.
