well i\'m kanny p**sed off about last night!
i went to the first gate on south shields pier at about 5ish i was casting on the river side and me mate was casting on the big beach side. me mate had 1 flounder and i had 2 whiting just under size on rag worm.
We then decided to go on the end for a chuck, along the way there where quite a few people fishing at the 27 and 44 mark. there were loads of whiting getting caught and 1 lad at the blocks had a codling around 2lb.
Anyway we went on the end and after having 2 snags on me first 2 casts i was going to pack up but instead i casted out. bait was i the water for about 30 mins when i got some kanny big bites
, i picked the rod up and striked and it was on, the B**TARD came of just as i had it to the wall, i reckon it was around 6-7 lb, 
i was using 3 runny down at a time on a 4/0 pennel. me mate pulled one in 10 mins later about 2 1/2 lb on ragworm and razor fish.
Think i might to fishing tonight either up marsden or the pier again.anyone know if outs been getting caught up marsden.?

Probably too late for you to read this but....if you decide on Shields Pier, I might see you down there.
I\'ll have me yellow & black Fladen on and Ian\'ll be wearing a 1 piece red / black float suit - probably somewhere between the Rail End & the 44.

tony i was fished the end last night/south east corner. did you fish the 44?? i\'m sure someone matching that desicription was there??
What time were you on for? i was there from 5 till 10:30.
well the last night was kanny crap, i had nowt all night but me mate got a dab about 1lb, kanny size for a dab it was. But a good thing was that i didnt loose any gear at all .
While i was fishing the end some lad come up to see if out was getting caught and he said some bloke at the first gate had a 5lb cod, lucky b**tard. there was a lad fishing the small wall when we were on the end, he had 3 codling biggest around 2 1/2lb smallest about 1 3/4lb.

Got down to the pier around 7:30, Brashy, and stayed at the Rail End \'til about 12:30 - 1:00ish. On the way up, we spoke to the lad at the gate with the 5lber - he\'d just landed it when we arived - canny fish :exclam: Speaking to a few lads through the couse of the night, it seems that EVERYBODY who went up to or beyoned the gate, got the story & had to have a look at the fish...lol.
What was it like on the End, Brashy? we had a couple of really good soakings with the waves coming over the pier wall - and that was before the rain started...lol
As far sa the fish go - we had 2 just in size whities all night (1 each) both returned.
