Looking for reccomendations for a good fixed spool reel for around £40-60

For pier/beach etc

Needed to upgrade for sisters bday to improve her casting

What about the okuma ones??

they say you get what you pay for but i have had the okuma multipliers before and could,nt fault them and bearing in mind i have some of the best multipliers on the market.

cant see a prob wth okuma fixed spool reels.

You'll get a very good second hand Shimano Aerlex for £50 and that will still be better than many of the other reels available for £50 new. They are fantastic quality. The 7000 size has more than adequate line capacity for beach fishing. I have 300yds of 40lb braid on mine. If you want to fish a heavier line straight through go for the 8000 size as it has the bigger spool.

They are great casters, very, very smooth and are known to be long lasting under heavy work.

Seen them new £60 myt go for that

Shimano aerlex 7000 but they dont have many ball bearings in not as smooth retrieve as the okumas with more bearings but still good reel for line lay casting etc which is more important.
