fished 2 rods,on one I used kamasan crab hooks in a size 1.the other I tried circle hooks in size 2 and 4.rag on the kamasans and fish baits plus squid on the circles.must be doing something wrong with the circles as I had lots more bites on them but had more fish hooked on the kamasans,im not striking the bites on the circles (ive read not to ).the one good thing with the circles is the 2 fish I got on them were both lip hooked.anyone else use the circle hooks could give advice
cheers

used barbless circle hooks when at caravan catching good sized carp and other silver fish, found the circle hooks hook the fish on the way out, the circle stopping them sticking in throat, much easier to unhook as well. Would suggest you try the barbless ones.

Looks a lot more fun than my day in the office :p

I used to use the semi-circles regularly when I lived down south, again usually hook fish in the scissors but alot easier to bait up with worm. Good for flats but I stopped using them when I lost a couple of good Bass in one session when they bumped off on the retrieve - sometimes you want a fish to be well hooked

also I tied them on with a carp fishing knott so the line comes through the eye from the back towards the point making it curve more, thats the way people seem to tie them

With circles, wind in rather than strike, will take a few attempts till you find the correct speed to wind. Don't work if using a grip lead!

couple of hours back there today with a mate,he fished rag on flattie hooks.i went up a size in the circles to a size 1,used squid and mackerel strip bound together with elastic then cut into small tubes.pushed circle through the top of each bait so it was left hanging under the hook, worked a treat, never missed a bite and all easy to unhook.mate only got one fish on rag and it swallowed the hook right down so was a pain to unhook.going upto druridge on Thursday or Friday so ill try the circles from the beach
