Free stretches?

Does anyone know if the river Derwent behind the Blaydon rugby club is a free water, or could you point me in the direction of where to buy day tickets and likley species that are there. Does anyone know any free stretches in the Tyne and Wear area? Any info would be great, thanks.

Free Stretches

Hi.

There are not many free stretches in tyne and wear (not many worth looking at anyway!). Derwent Angling Club own the river from the reservoir down to the bridge at Linzford. Axwell park own from the bridge onwards.
The only free stretches are at corbridge and durham city (next to the ice rink).

Derwent Angling Club is only about £50 to join for the year and they have some cracking fishing along those stretches. Well worth the money and there are plenty fish in the river.

Hope this helps.

Great stuff, have you a contact number or address for the club, thanks again.

Day tickets on the Derwent are also very cheap through the Tyne Angling Passport voucher scheme. Tickets for stretches of Derwent AA water are £2.50 a day (or one voucher) and the Axwell Park and Derwent Valley beats from Lintzford down are a fiver (two vouchers). I'm not sure whether it spells it out on the website, but I'm pretty sure it's all fly-only.

Details at Tyne Rivers Trust website.

Oh, and the Derwent AA website is at Derwent Angling Association Home Page. (Be warned though, I'm told that they're not too sharp at returning emails!)
