i have a load of ragworm left from a few days ago but there going to die before i get out fishing again, ive herd that some people freeze them by rapping them up in newspaper does anyone know what there like frozen and any techniques for freezing them

thanks,

I think they just turn to mush when defrosted Shaun.

I have thought about stuffing them inside squid before freezing rather than throw them away but usually end up just giving any left over away.

are the worm decent ive managed to keep ragworm alive for just over a week just by wrapping it up in fresh news paper once a day and keeping it in the bottom of the fride worth a try but freezing them ive tried before salting them dose help a little but is it really worth doin cos they end up like mush anyway id advise you to try keeping tem alive if they are decent worm...daz

if you cant keep them alive in time for your next session, just salt them down m8,,ive kept them for weeks salted down,,parrot...........

so just put loads of salt on them but dont freeze them?

nooo dont salt them how long before your out next?
if its gonna be no more than a week just change the news paper that they are wrapped in and store the in the bottom of the fridge or summit just to keep them chilled but not too cold change it once a day thats all you need to do they should last a week or so if they are decent worms to start off with

;)Hi Shaun, I agree wiv dizzydaz, just change the newspaper regularly, and keep them cold, I just keep them in me porch, they keep a few days ok;)

thanks, ill change them now and just try and keep them alive i didnt think they would be any good dead or froozen, cheers

The only way i know is to freeze them on a trace and transport them in a wide neck thermos, clip em on when your ready to cast out and no bait splatter)av done this with lug too and caught fish.Paul kerry done an article years ago about this and he had good success, its worth a go as a back up,just a clart on m8.

ive used cart before but not had much luck i never once thought of doing that with the left over bait a rather good idea might have to give it a try sometime

you can keep ragworm alive for a long time if you keep them in fresh sea water with an eariator aerator, preferably in a cold dark place, won't have much problem just now. rag are not lug, when a single lug dies, it kills the rest, rag for some reason just turn to what looks like a skin, but still best to remove damaged worms, and keep changing the water.
