fresh crab vs lug worm

When does fresh crab start to loose its edge over lug worm baits up the north east coastline ?
Also if you had a choice of only one type of lug worm bait for the north east coastline what would you choose and why, or would it depend on the mark your fishing and whether the sea was away or flat calm.

come october rag and(white rag)and lug hands down crab is best left in the fridge for a rainy day

I'd say from now till mid November, rag and lug come on the fishes menu more again and fishes just as well as crab.

Come mid to end November, yellowtail and blow lug do the big takeover for cod and crab is left to one side. This doesnt mean you should not use it all together though, its still a deadly tipping bait, especially with yellow tail lug.

Even on the rock edges in middle of winter crab still has advantages, a hardly think a big hungry coddy is gonna ignore a big juicey crab bait, unless they arnt there...
