Frozen blacks

I usually have some in the freezer. I buy them online (in bulk though as online bait suppliers have extortionate postage) and fill my freezer. Use them all year round, not just for cod. The majority of my summer Bass are caught on black lug. Good to have them frozen in case you want a session at short notice and cannot go digging or the bait shop is closed.

I've always had fish on them, mostly cocktailed with mussel, razor, crab, mackeral etc and on thier own. As already said get 2 or 3 maybe more depending on size, fold them in half and whip into a sausage. I don't like them after they've been nuked or had boiling water on them, thats personal preference though.

I like them. Mind u get better ones than others. Last batch I had were frozen in cellophane and still had sand on them. Brilliant bait for flatty bashing with a bit of mackerel to tip off. One black gets u three baits.

Aye cheers mick. I know the dabs love them at anytime of the year! Well I've got 5 wraps of frozen blacks in the freezer. I must say the comments have provided a bit more confidence than I previously had in them!

It is more than useful bait, just tip off with a bit of squid or razor for mainly worm baits as this keeps it on the hook (or use in cocktail with mussel / mackerel / bluey etc tied on for bigger baits).

FWIW I had the best fish I never caught (I'd guesstimate a low double) on frozen blacks tipped off with squid down the Walkway (bugger snagged me up on the channel shelf and wouldn't pull free :()

wish yous lot,{not all of yous } would grow up.IMO,again for what its worth, fished 1 night back marsden rock,KING RAGWORM, not a bite in 2 hours, lads fishing s/s winter league, moved into 1st bay 100yds behind me.what happens 6 casts between them {3 of them} 5 yes 5 fish between them up to 7lb. on frozen blacks OPENED MY EYES..rant over.ps,so again IMO,bloody good winter bait.

Had my PB bass on a straight frozen black(big one folded in half, sausage style)
Tad over 8lb:)works for me,summer n winter:)

I have had no problem keeping black lugs in the freezer aslong as they are wrapped properly. You can also inject and fill the skins with additives.

Just wondering if anyone has ever had much luck using them? Been given a few wraps but I've only ever used them fresh... Will they keep a couple of months in the freezer?

Frozen blacks has to be the best all round cod bait for the north east coast regardless of time of the year

out in the morning with some frozen blacks of a week ago only using small rods along from latimers on rocks will see how i get on.
