Gambia Boat Fishing

looking to pick anyones brains that might have fished from a boat in Gambia. Bit of a new venture, but I've gotten involved in a charter fishing boat out there (half share), in the process of sourcing a mass of tackle as supplies are a bit limited out in the cuds as it were. Just wondered if anyone has 'been there done that'??

what end gear would you recommend? lure types? techniques? hook sizes? Breaking strains? wire traces?? rods and reels is easy, the stuff that goes on the end is all a bit unknown to me

any advice appreciated, or if anyone might be fancying a pot of boat fishing out there...

best of luck Mark,
never been but fancied it, plenty about it on WSF, Panamajack may be worth dropping a pm.

hardly Pansy sadly.

Fast bass boat set up for fishing the reefs, gullies and bars just off the mouth of the gambia river

My father fished on the boats in the Gambia most years while on Hols.
Think he only paid £5 for the day n that was with as much food n drink as you wanted

Hi Mark, I was in the Gambia about 5-6 years ago and fished from small fast boats just past the "bar" near the river mouth. We caught a variety of fish using fresh shrimp, 5-6 up the trace and a fillet of Bonga on a single flowinng trace. My setup was simply a 2oz bullet lead above a swivel, below that a 3ft trace, 5/0 hook on a 40lb mono trace, and 30lb braid on a 7000 ABU. Caught Captain fish to 14lb, Jacks, and a few other species I can't remember their names, and trolling for barracuda close inshore with lures.
