I'm no expert but I think thats a door......possibly yellow.

Blackrat has a canny tail too tell of the night he fished Hawthorn Hive on his own. He doesnt go there anymore on a night.

He may be able to elaborate but briefly pitch dark on his own he was fishing away then suddenly there was an old guy standing about 6-8ft away from him. No noise on the shingle or anything. The old boy asked ratty if he's caught anything. To which he starts to reply whilst sorting his gear "no nothing yet didnt hear you coming........". Old boy is gone. He checks the sand no footprints. Chucked his gear in his bag and ran up the beach.

i bet he was scared byhimself, well belive me or not the same thing happened to me on the chemical blast beach 30 year ago i was fortunate to have someone with me at the time[raf guy]we had a fire going on beach and fishing it was around 4 am,water was calm no wind nice night, i turned roundbehind me and this guy was standing not 8 feet away from me warming his hands on our fire i jumped and said loudly**** ME MATE YOU GAVE ME A SHOCK THERE,he never even replied to me just looked ,i said where did you come from hairs standing up on my neck i turned to alan pretending to look at me rod and said under my breath a dont like this mate, howd he sneak up on us, he said he was scared the next breath i turned to keep eye on him [only took eyes off him for a ,few seconds]and he was gone totally gone, impossible to not see him go or still walking totaly impossible we were shocked scared il admit it and wasnt till we realised it was a moonlight night we were on the shingle for around 60 yards easy when we left we noticed we were making a right racket on the gravel shingle for ages and was to the waters edge,we knew we had had a paranormal encounter[ghost without doubt] i dont realy like discussing it but its easier to tell on here,if i told anyone the story i used to get the same feeling hairs on end uneasy awfull feeling even to this day, this was a bloke not very tall he had dark hair shortish dark cap and dark longish coat needed a shave dark stubble and im sure he had wellies on,laugh all yous like but i swear to anyone this was true and know without doubt what he was and alan[who went away with the raf ive only saw a few times over them 30 year] still doesnt like to bring it up and says it was a terrifying experience, atb plum ps [ive also saw one down hendon wall [behind tanks]years back but not as awfull as this one for another day]

I mostly fish at night and in all that time I have never heard or seen anything that freaked me out. Foxes, rats, cats, drunks, shooting stars but nowt I couldnt explain. Mind not that I want that experience. Must confess I laughed at Ratty but he wasnt laughing.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY.

About two years ago, I was fishing a Seaham Badger on a Friday Night, which I think was due to end at 2am.
Decided to walk down to fish the Hive right in front of the viaduct. Arrived and set up my gear.
Nothing happened for a few hours. All I will say is that it had to be one of the darkest nights I have ever witnessed. No moon and not one other light could be seen on the beach. I was alone with nearest life form, ( and I use the term lightly ) was my girlfriends brother Farmer Conway, about half a mile in the farmhouse.
Got to about 11pm standing looking up at my tip light, when without any warning, a voice behind me said (and I quote). " YOU CAUGHT OWT SON". Jesus Christ I nearly swallowed my tongue. I immediately turned round illuminating my expensive headlamp, expecting to see someone only feet away, due to the loudness and clearness of the voice. NOT A SOLE.
I scanned the beach from left to right illuminating it like London Blitz Searchlight. NOT A SOLE. By now I was thinking. Bring it on. What can a ghost do to you. NOT.
I cut my line and if anyone has ever used the steps up and down the cliff face into the Hive (about 200' from top to bottom) then you know it ain't no picnic, well I ran up them kit in hand.
Now you can believe it or not, but I'm a 6'3" copper, and have played rugby against Wade Dooley and Dean Richards at their prime, and have come up against some mean ugly mothers in my job, but I ain't affraid to tell you. I S**T myself that night. I have been back on a night session, but not alone.
I have looked for an explanation into the incident, including wind passing through the viaduct, but there weren't no wind. What I heard was a mans voice giving the impression that he was feet away from me.
Did I get any sympathy off Conway or back in the clubhouse. NOPE
