Glass centre today

Decided to take my two little girls fishing with me today, went opposite Panns Bank just past the glass centre. An absolutely beautiful day for it, but blanked again. Still, it definitely beats being at work!

Looks like there are plenty of crabs around (lots of my bait was stripped off and one of my kids was pulling up crabs in a drop net) but not many decent fish at the moment.

I heard talk about a shoal of coalies at Roker pier earlier on, but was told that it didnt come in.

Has anyone caught owt decent recently?

I'm sure I was fishing opposite you yesterday on Panns Bank side, were your two girls on bikes and did you have an umbrella?

Anyway I blanked yesterday, but the day before that I fished the same spot and had two sized flounders out and a just sized codlin, all taken on fresh crab, there's never two days the same in this game!

Hi mate, yes that was me. There were some lads further down near the glass centre who also told me they all blanked.

Think I might give it another go this weekend, I have been along to check out the blast beach at seaham, looks quite a good spot.

I'm not sure about the Blast Beach this time of year, I wouldn't fancy trying it, Horden beach might be worth a shot though. I'd stick to the rivers & piers mate, I'm tempted to try further up the Wear, maybes the whitewall or even the cranes at Southwick, but where ever you do try, I reckon fresh or frozen crab is a must.

Thanks for the tip mate - I havent been fishing that long (as you could probably tell from my casting!)

Will try Roker pier this weekend then, and stick to the crab. Fishing Republic in Hendon had a few in at £1 a pop, but they were all a bit small. Where do you usually get your bait from?

you can get flounders dabs off the blast as well as plaice.plaice and dabs best when its calm.

codling can still be caught along there now but crab needed.

also with a bit movement on there is a chance of a bass big ragworm good for them as for the plaice.

the way the weather is at the moment would go for the tyne.
