Fished Jarrow riverside park today from about 11 o'clock. We had originally gone to ss pier but the wind put us off. There were loads of whiting to be had, caught on cocktails of rag, mussel and mackerel. We took home four good size ones and chucked the others back.
Didn't see any cod at all today but there were plenty rods out by the time we left, they might have better luck with the cod as it gets dark.
It's a good fishing spot down there now, I hadn't fished there for years and I live in Jarrow. Loads of kids at the new skate park there but they didn't bother us at all.
I was really pleased with the new Century Tip Tornado UL that I have just bought. The bite detection was excellent and though I can't cast as well as I can with my other rod, I was getting there later on.
Good day out with some canny sport.
No pics (you know what a few whiting look like
