just benn fishing down next to smith docks at the back of the royal quays fishing from 2:45 till 18:50 using rag cought 3 flatties then nowt for an hour then i changed bait to fozen crab and started to get plenty of action then cought 2 good size pollick within the space of 20 mins of each other overall good times

Well done on getting out and catching some fish but You sure they weren't coleys you caught not pollack, their seems to be a lot of them in the river at the minute, just because you don't hear of many pollack being caught in the river.
 
hi again did some research looks like polloick to me .
large eyes,greeney coloured sides and a big mouth with three fins on top and to fins on the bottom under the tail ish. but no matta thanks for the interest.
going to try some frozen again on sunday i thinks ill let yous no how i get on.:red:
 
welldone on the fish mate;)
more than likley coalie than pollack
can look very similar if not used to catching either or new to fishing:)

The way to tell them apart is the lateral line - it is straight in a coley and curved over the pectoral fins in a pollack. They can look pretty much the same apart from that. Well done on your catch.

thanks for that i will remember that for next time .any way was fishing yesterday afternoon from 5:30 to:8:00 down at smith docks using frozen crab and cought a 1lb flattie that was it all nite but still nice to catch sumit like .:):):):):):):):)
