Has anyone had problems with the greys longboat 10-15lb rod. I got one in April, it snapped in July between the 1st and 2nd eye lifting 2 mackerel aboard.Greys replaced the tip and the next trip it went in the same place with one mackerel this time.Replaced it again and guess what, first drop, one mackerel and snap again.Got a refund but has put me off greys rods. Anybody else had this happen?

Iv'e been using longboats 6-12class and 10-15class for the last 3 years and had no probs at all.
Had many Tope up to 40lb on the 10-15 and it coped no probs.

Damned unlucy to have so many go must have been a bad lot i did read somewhere though of someone taking 3 greys rods to norway & all three breaking.Having said that i fish with greys rods & have never had a problem yet :)

I think it's maybe been a bad batch, I've never snapped a rod in over 30 years fishing. I use a greys triplex for the beach and its great, no problems and it's had some punishment!

I've snapped a few rods in my time :red: , pike rods , fly rods , boat rods , spinning rods , just about any kind of rod you can think of I've probably snapped one , I bought a John Wilson boat rod with 3 tips last year , 12/20/30lb , snapped the 12lb one first time out , snapped a spinning rod last year as well , lost eyes off at least 3 rods ...... I'm not very good with rods :(
Fly rods are my favourites for snapping , casting a goldhead fly , the fly came back towards the rod , hit it about a foot from the tip and felled the tip like it had been shot with a rifle , got a very expensive Hardy fly rod for a present , took it out fishing for the first time and snapped the tip off threading the line up before I ever got to cast with it :o (good job they have a lifetime unlimited warranty :D)
A mate of mine when we were kids used to fish with an old tank aerial , maybe that's what I should use
