Having spoken to Sixfoot at the comp, I realise Im not the only one who has this problem, ie, the reel fitting not gripping the reel. any suggestions, Ive contacted Greys.
Thougt about a strip of inner tube araldited to the reel foot.

if you,ve got any of the padding from studded neoprenes (feet normally wrapped in foam) i cut this to shape of reel seat

the 1 on that triplex nobody wanted fitted perfect :P try putting a strip of anything under the reel foot that should give it the extra pressure required.

I put some electricians tape where the reel seat is situated, just enough to make it slightly tight. Have had no problems with reel movement at all. The tape easily peals off if a new position is required. You have to do the same with the ABU adjustable fitting which I have on my Diawa rods.

This seems to be a problem I\'ve been hearing about for ages with Grey\'s rods. Don\'t understand why they don\'t sort it out. Surely there must be reel seats that do fit. I\'ve got 3 rods and I don\'t think any of them could exchange reel seats. The ones on my penn and daiwa rods won\'t go on my WR300 at all but I\'ve got seats on all of them that are adjustable but all fit. Grey\'s really should get this one sorted.

Ive got a piece of rubber glued under the tongue of the reel seat on my Apollo however I\'ve had no bother with the reel seat on my Triplex.

I always carry a roll of electricians tape in my fishing box.

Can\'t count how many times I have used it to sort a problem.

Stick one in and let me know next year how many times you have used it.

Jim.

For this problem it would have taken two minutes to sort out.

Ok not a long term solution but a fishable one.

I have taped a reel to my rod when things have gone wrong and it has never moved a bit.

Jim.

I haven\'t got a grey\'s beach rod but have fly and spinning rods so don\'t have anything against Grey\'s as such, unlike a lot of people, but I don\'t understand why they can sell products that are defective especially when, as I understand it, they are aware of the problem. No doubt there is more to it but surely when the rods are sold they should come with a warning that the reel seats don\'t work!
