Both equally capable mate, the only difference is the action of the rod. I've got the GSI's, which have a stiffer butt, powerful mid-section & a bit more flex in the top 2ft or so of the rod - the XS is more of a through action (but still powerful). So it'd really come down to which you prefer for casting / handling etc. I wouldn't describe either as an "out & out" rough ground rod, more like one of the best all-round rods I've used. For dedicated rough ground I prefer my old Apollo mk1 or a TTR or Eliminator type rod.
i second that mate, i have the gsi and would never part with it,tho i tend to use my nitra over the rocks and rough ground (another rod i wont part with ) but the gsi handled rough with no worries at all when i tried it out.
also i have an apollo but aint even tried it out yet lol
