Bait additives can make a difference on their day for sure. I use these watertight trays to keep fish oils and gulp worms in. Although they are out of stock at Mr. Fish currently. Meiho VS-L430 Liquid Pack - Extras : Mr Fish Jersey
They have the advantage of a nice wide hole to get your hand in
incase I want to dip other soft's that I keep separate from the gulp. And they don't leak.
One other point regarding gulp, worms in particular is to keep them straight, if they have kinks I find they don't fish as effectively for the Shirlies if your inclined to rig them on a bombarda or controller float type setup. I inspect the worms in the pack to make sure they are all straight before I part with my cash.
