hand held vhf radios

evenin all been looking for vhf radio on the usual web sites quite a few claim to be waterproof but some of the reviews suggest otherwise.dont want to spend too much but at the same time dont want to waste money on something thats not up to the job any advice/ recomendations greatly recieved. first time ive posted anything so appologys if its not set out rite

It depends on what you want it for and how waterproof it needs to be. Some are splash-proof, some waterproof and others even float and flash if dropped into the sea.

Ive got one and its very impressive bit of kit.

Some of the ICOM range are waterproof but the contacts to recharge the battery corrode when immersed. A thin coat of Vaseline on them and / or a waterproof pouchshould prevent that.
